COLORSS
Color Use: Discuss the use of color in your project (think back to color theory). Discuss use of color in costuming, props, setting, camera filters, tone of overall project, etc. What are you trying to convey via color use? How does it contribute to the mise en scene? Overall meaning?
I think that colors and symbolism in the film is my favorite aspect of them. I just recently watched La La Land, and the cinematography was through the roof. The main character always had a bright colored dress, and it was always one solid color, and it represented her mood like throughout the film, along with a lot of LED colored lights, or just really saturated/over exaggerated colors. I think for our film, since it’s a more sad and somber type film, will probably have a lot of like neutral colors to represent our characters play either State of mind, or just state of being.
we planned that my character is going to have the darker aesthetic, so I’ll wear a lot of like blacks and reds, and just darker tone, colors, and then Bry's character, who is preppy, and usually happy, he’s gonna have a lot of light colors like white or pink and maybe beach. And since Mal's is like in in between character or connecting character, we’re gonna have her wear a lot of neutral colors are colors that work for both color palettes or general ideas. I think an overall theme of our film is going to be how people grow and change and have an affect on others that they meet or their friends, and since it’s an early 2000s inspired film, we’re going to have this sort of vintage filter that a lot of indie movies have, I just don’t really know how to explain.
Here are some inspo pics/ideas from la la land.
